Remaining Independent with the New Freedom Program
Remaining Independent is what the New Freedom Program is all about. It provides transportation to persons with disabilities (temporary or permanent) and individuals with mobility or medical limitations. Our goal is to give independence to our passengers and provide the opportunity to safely travel to and from home when friends and family are not available. New Freedom is available to transport these community members and help provide access to employment or volunteer opportunities within the county, attend social events, go to the library, or visit friends and relatives that, until now, had no way to commute. The New Freedom Program provides transportation for qualified individuals to take care of basic needs such as grocery shopping, banking, and hair cut appointments.
The expanded service will be available to individuals receiving ongoing medical services and not currently utilizing Haywood Public Transit for medical appointments. For more information please call 828-452-1447 ext. 109. |
